8 years in Prison for a murder he did not commit. Chipiliro Mataka was convicted of murdering his own wife on 7 Jun 2018. For so many years, the family had been praying that the Lord should bless them with a child but every time the deceased could be pregnant the result was a miscarriage. This couple could not understand what was really happening. One witchdoctor told them that all the miscarriages were as a result of Chipiliro’s mother in-law who was bewitching her. When the news reached the in-laws that they were accused of this they got so furious, and they started hunting for this guy. One evening when Chipiliro and the deceased were walking in a lonely place some men come out of the bush and started chasing them. The two went different directions. Chipiliro had to come back to look for his wife but who could not find her. Early the following morning Chipiliro was told that his wife was found dead, and he could not believe it. His in-laws accused him of murdering his wife and he was arrested. Missional Law had an interview with him at Maula Prison and conducted a serious village investigation on the case. Missional Law through the help of the Malawi Legal Aid Bureau had to write a Bail Application for Chipiliro Mataka after a successful village investigation. We thank God that the bail application was successful, and this young man was released today on 13 February 2025. Love and Justice have no boarders. Missional Law was responsible for the all the expenses in case. Missional Law also paid for Chipiliro’s bail bond, new clothes, food and transport. God is still working in ways we cannot understand.
